Check shirts, destroyed jeans and leather jackets are basically an ode to grunge style. This 90’s trend returns regularly on the catwalks, like at the beginning of the year. I think there’s a very sustainable way to approach grungy items. I would define it as ‘feminine boyish’ style. It particularly fits this time of the year: It’s cold enough to wear wool, but sufficiently warm to combine lace details.

From the current Maje, Marni collections and street styles; there are plenty ways to explore the mix and match of wool and lace.
How it works:
1. Choose the right materials, colors and shapes.
It’s obvious, the quality of the result is depending on these factors. If you don’t feel comfortable with matching tones, start with essentials like grey, taupe and black. Or go for off whites, which really looks amazing in winter.
Go for raw materials like virgin, sheep wool or alpaca for coats and pullovers. If you’re still looking for the perfect jumper, something like this might fulfill your desires for years.
The same for lace items. It has to be delicate and qualitative. I particularly like this white lace skirt: it’s nice to layer a jumper on it. Mixing a mid-long lace skirt with a wool coat and men shirt might be also interesting. Remember this post, I added check fabric on the collar.
2. Accessories and shoes are just as much important
Well, honestly: bags are not necessary. Simply wear small jewellery pieces and nice shoes.
This is exactly what makes the outfit: wool pants or jeans combined with lace details need high or mid pumps.
On the contrary, lace skirts and dress combined with chunky wool coats are, dependent on your size, better with sleepers, or boots. Go for essentials. These Dr Martens as well as Timberland fit to many items.
This is it. Besides my beloved granny skirt, this is my style for Fall. Have a good day!
