It’s this time of the year again: fashion and lifestyle fairs are running in many big cities, like in Paris currently. Maison & Objet, Who’s Next: these two names might sound familiar to you. Together with Monadico Zürich we spent three days in Paris to discover and select new items. And yes, regarding my consultant activity, it’s always a good opportunity to get new inspirations. For merchandising, branding as well sale. This said, I’m always surprised to see so many sale people hanging on the phone and making selfies instead of being concentrated on their own presence!..
Back to today’s subject. At Maison & Objet the focus for Fall Winter is on ethnic patterns, velvet fabric, blue and green tones. Loads of animals and fruits — just as flamingos and ananas.
From the left to the right: Velvet footstool by Brucs, velvet sofa and stone table (gold leg inclusive!) by Cravt, Zenza khaki chair, blue ceramics and mirrors by Lifestyle, hand painted bowls by Chabi Chic, tea box and ananas jars by Asiatides, ethno footstool by Brucs.
At Who’s Next this year’s theme was ‘the Mediterranean’. I think the set up was well executed, all in yellow, blue and white. However to me some elements could have match better to the scene, but don’t get me wrong — it was a nice and beautiful event. Even with some cactus made from cardboard by amazing Martine Leherpeur Conseil, which were probably DIY items. I like!
I prefer not to publish pictures from the collections now, since most of them will be only available by next year, in summer. But some talented designers from Future of Fashion’ and (RE)CREATE are definitely on my mind. This is the work from people who care about sustainability and resources. For example, Second St and Fade out Label. Discover their collections and more names here on the website.
And in case you want to read more about Who’s Next, here is my latest article on STORES & GOODS — in german language.
Dear Parisian fairs, we had a good time. See you in 2017! Now ready for Mode Suisse, it’s tonight indeed. See you soon.
