Is there anything better than clutches for summer time? I find these small bags really cool and practical, for the city or on the beach. And, you know what? It also upcycling time! Those who are following me should know that I love upcycling things from home decor to my closet…
Yesterday’s cushion cover is now a summer clutch.

What do you need?
– 2 cushion covers (a basic one and the other with patterns)
– 1 tick plastic sheet (by most of print shops)
– 3 embellishing elements that you can sew
-thread, needles, scissors and pencil.
Step 1. Place the plastic sheet in the middle of the cushion cover and delimit the width size with needles.
Then return the material on it-self and draw, thanks to the needles, the border lines with the pencil.
Fold the plastic sheet in 2 in order to define the high of the clutch.
Draw the line and verify the measurements with a tape measure.
Place the zip in the middle, because we need it to close up the bag! and fix each side with needles.
Sew the 3 borders with sewing machine and cut 1 cm left from the border.
Hand sew each extremity of the zip, in order to keep the material unripped. Turn the material on its right side.
Place the elements on the clutch, define where they belong to and sew each one of them.
Step 2. The lining: place the clutch on one’s lining corner; this way you only will have to sew ONE length.
Width: 1 cm less than clutch’s width / High: +2 cm than clutch’s high
Return the material on it-self and sew the length with sewing machine.
Place the lining in the plastic sheet and put them inside the clutch.
Make the last finishings with hand inside & all around the clutch opening.
We’re done! Wish you nice summer days with your new clutch… and see you later!
