Hoi everyone! Summer is coming, at least in some countries it’s already there… This week I teamed up with the expert platform for Portugal and asked them their favorite addresses and tips for a short weekend to PORTO. If there’s one place that I’ve been looking forward discovering, then it’s this one! Not telling this only because of wine. Not alcoholic, just French!
Porto in 3 words according to Liliana, the founder of Taste of Portugal? Charming, creative, honest. Sounds promising.
Indeed — for a good reason. Our ladies tribe and me are going to spend the upcoming weekend in Porto city. Definitely need to discover a new place, some interesting stores and get fresh energy! So follow me on Instagram with some stories, mood and cool stuffs…
Are you ready for the tour?
Favorite Hotel: Casa do Conto (1) – Concrete meets Portuguese Traditions
Casa do Conto is our favorite place to stay. Sure there are many others fantastic hotels and bed and breakfasts, but the massive concrete walls combined with Portuguese traditional handcraft, the delicious brunch and the friendly hosts simply conquered our hearts.
Favorite Restaurant: Camafeu (2)
This is the most romantic restaurant in town! It feels like having dinner in a private living room. Not only is the atmosphere exceptional but also the food and drinks (try the Portotonic with white Portwine!) are outstanding. Be aware that there are only a few small tables and you definitely have to make reservation.
- Mercearia das Flores (3)
The perfect place to buy your foodie souvenirs. However, the street Rua das Flores is one of our favorites to just stroll and enjoy a walk.
- O! Galeria (4)
You can spend hours at O! Galeria. Many talented illustrators and artists are represented in this little shop that looks like an art gallery. Oh, and don’t forget to grab a city map at the counter by Porto Fashion Makers.
- Early Made by Rosa Et Al TOWNHOUSE (see also 7)
A cool concept store with fashion and lifestyle products.
Favorite places to brunch
- O Diplomata (5)
If you love pancakes, it’s a must. But they also have fruit and açai bowls, eggs and much more. Be on time! The doors open at 10am and five minutes later all the tables are gone.
- Casa do Conto
We told you about it for the first tip (see 1). You can also brunch at Casa do Conto for only 6 €. They have a garden too.
Last but not least:
- Rosa Et Al TOWNHOUSE (7)
Actually we love to stay there too! But if you happen to be sleeping in another place you can always opt for brunch. It’s delicious and you can take it outside in the garden too.
- Special Trip: Serralves Fundation
We love to rent bikes and just ride along the Douro until you get to the beach (8, Foz). And on your way we recommend to make a detour and visit Fundação Serralves (6). It includes a Contemporary Art Museum, a Park and a Villa. Each one is an example of contemporary architecture. The Museum was designed by Alvaro Siza Vieira, one of the most famous Portuguese architects.
We hope you enjoyed the post, follow Taste of Portugal on Instagram for many other addresses and inspirations.
Thanks a lot to Taste of Portugal for these worthy tips.
